About this deal

Emulate: Doing research and learning from Nature to create better and more sustainable design for society. Mengyu is not the first artist to translate Chinese characters into something Westerners can visually recognise. But in this project, she's done it far more successfully than most. Rather than awkwardly twisting these shapes into something they're evidently not, her beautiful illustrations follow the flow of the lines perfectly, and the use of watercolours softens things to make the overall look utterly entrancing. Lessons learned UK independent schools and academies can change their curriculum away from the national curriculum, but it's the independent schools that have made the move first, to great benefit of their students. Let's make it available to every student.

Adding an indirect experience with nature through earth tones can also have an array of positive psychological and physiological effects – as long as the colours represent what Söderlund calls “healthy nature”. “You don’t want to use colours that are indicative of dying plants, like an orangey-yellow hue,” she says. Instead, try forest greens, sky blues or savannah browns. “Look outside the window and think to yourself how you can bring those colours inside,” she adds.

The solution is in the Bee Brick design

On paper, it’s quite simple but how do you put it to practice with real words and real problems? Why we need design We pass knowledge and multiply it. This is called collective thinking and it has writing in its core. The Bat Conservation Trust and Green&Blue are working together “to enhance the landscapes on which bats rely as it is essential in protecting the UK’s native bat populations.” Good design will eat your money and make you feel good about it. Practical value is only a part of what people are willing to pay for. Another part is happiness. If your design makes people feel good, they will forgive you for technical issues and bad updates. How to make them happy? Be genuine and honest about your work. Listen. Change. The first project transformed the A391 into a stunning town gateway. A ‘river of wildflowers’ perfect for pollinators runs along the road verges.

Modern illustration and photography is not the only way to bring nature into our designs. Standing on the shoulders of giants, and incorporating the great art of the past, can often be a fruitful avenue to explore. Enter the Indigo Awards 2022 It could be argued that biophilic design is a subsection of human-centred design. But I actually see it as an overarching umbrella, much more important than just being a subsection. With this design approach, there are not only physical but also psychological benefits. If you walk into a building and see a profusion of plants and greenery, you’ll get an immediate visual sense: that if plants can survive here, maybe I can! And like the plants, I will thrive and flourish.” Bombarded with noise We are working with University of Exeter to assess the impact of improving urban green spaces that make up the Making Space for Nature project. Experience of space and place – providing spatial features characteristic of nature that have advanced human health and wellbeing. Such as open views and places for retreat and refuge within organised diversity, clear pathways with natural waypoints and cultural and ecological elements that help develop attachment to place.

Design By Nature

Is it that real biomimicry, not just making things look ‘natural’, that actually follows ‘Life’s Principles’ (closed loops, non-polluting, design that is conducive to life, etc) is complex and needs a lot more investment? Biomimicry is not new. Velcro is inspired by pollination techniques. Japan’s Shinkansen bullet train takes its shape from the Kingfisher. The ventilation system for the Eastgate Centre in Zimbabwe shopping centre is based on the convection technique termites use to keep their habitats cool. Making Space for Nature has been introducing wildflower meadows and orchards in a number of spaces across Cornwall. We thought it might be useful for you to learn from what we've been doing; Following Public consultation in spring 2021, plans have been developed to enhance the existing woodland environment of this cherish space with a mind to increase its resilience to future uses and environmental changes, including increased storm events and higher temperatures as a result of climate change for instance. Trelawney Park Yet stereotypes and misinformation around this field remain. And so they came to Z1, an international digital product studio based in Seville, Spain and focused on partnering with North American startups with an idea. Trip was conceived as an app for people seeking altered states of consciousness for personal growth, who may not have access to one of Field Trip's clinic-based therapy programs.

Green Infrastructure for Growth 2 is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with Cornwall Council and University of Exeter providing match funding. Cornwall’s Environmental Growth Strategy calls for creating the space and conditions for more abundant, productive and healthier habitats, species and natural systems. Which in turn, improve the lives of people.

We believe passionately that every new house built needs to provide a home for wildlife as well as for us. With so many species in decline, we have to rethink the way we plan, build and manage both housing and within our own gardens,” say the Christmans. Protecting other species Toilet problems or not. With happier, healthier and more productive people as a net effect of biophilic design, isn’t it time we open our doors to nature? Thank you to all who responded to our on-line consultation which closed on 12 June. A Cemetery Park Consultation Summary of the main findings has guided the final Cemetery Park landscape plan.

For skeptics, no attractive things don’t work better but they are always worth a try. Beautifully designed products get half of their credibility because of the visual appeal. It’s the developer’s job to pull the rest of the features to that level. Most people think if it looks good, it has to work well as well. The team has worked with Cornwall Councillors and the Town Council to identify spaces that could be improved as part of the project. Windmill Hill

Enter the Indigo Awards 2022

After working several years at the household technology company Dyson, Kate and Gavin Christman decided to take the leap and open their own design workshop in Cornwall. A user interface is the main touchpoint of a designed product and a user. The UI design is about providing a user with the simplest and most efficient way to interact with a product. In that sense, a designer has to be well aware of the following three concepts of user interface design: Cornwall Council acquired land to the south of Ridgegrove Lane to enable a new crossing over the River Kensey for pedestrians and cyclists. The design has to be visible first so that it won’t do harm. The notorious hamburger menu has taken a beating but made its way into the designers’ minds and earned respect. What this shows is you can’t force minimalism and count on simplicity. Every physical object moves. They might be still technically, but in relation to the environment, they all move. As the Sun goes over a stone in the woods, the game of light and shadows enlivens the dead stone.
