This is a driver-free, bloatware-free mouse, and that’s a massive plus in my book. I always groan when I have to install some bespoke app just to get a peripheral working, or access basic features like hanging RGB schemes on a keyboard. It feels like an attempt to funnel you into using the same manufacturer for all your peripherals, since it’s such a pain to manage competing apps that all want to alert you about inconsequential firmware updates. With Zowie, there’s none of that, and it functions perfectly without it.

Barry listened to our needs and drew up the plans in accordance with the building regulations for our garage conversion. The home’s front door opens into a bright hallway with generous built-in storage, crisp white walls paired with stylish laminate flooring set the theme for the accommodation to follow. On your right is the garage conversion, which is currently utilised as a storage room. Positioned to the front of the property is the impressive open plan living/dining room. This inviting reception space provides a comfortable area to unwind and socialise, with a versatile floorplan for relaxed lounge furniture, open plan to the dining area with space for table and chairs, ideal for dinner parties and family meals. Double doors open onto the conservatory, a lovely space to relax and take in views of the garden. French doors provide garden access. I wouldn’t call it a design flaw, but most other manufacturers have devised more user-friendly solutions to this since Zowie brought the FK1 to market. Given its shooter focus, a super low DPI toggle button on the mouse body would also be useful, like the ‘sniper mode’ buttons found on Corsair models.

He was keen to get us to our preferred design. It would have been easy for him to convince us to go with a more tried and tested approach, but he took the time to do what was right for us. Planning an extension can be both exciting and daunting. At times you can become overwhelmed with many questions around your ‘needs’ and ‘wants’ and design regulations. So, it is vital that you find the right designer – I cannot stress this enough. Barry, at FK1, listened to my ‘vision’ and then brought it to life through his excellent plans. He saw this as an iterative process which offered me great support as I reviewed my plans constantly. Barry was responsive, flexible and honest at all times.
